The village
The village consists mostly of low rise apartments and villas. There is a great variety of family friendly restaurants and bars, good supermarkets and a host of shops of all descriptions, There is a beautiful sandy beach, with spectacular cliffs on one side and rock pools on the other. Along the beach there is a palm tree lined promenade.
There are two night clubs, but in general the facilities are aimed at familie holidays.

The area
The historic town of Lagos, with its extensive shops, restaurants, beaches and marina is only 6 kilometers away. About 5 kilometers to the west is the picturesque fishing village of Burgau. If you like walking, you can get there by using the cliff path, enjoying the amazing views. There is an (inexpensive) hourly bus service between Luz and Lagos, and Luz and Burgau..
Cape St , the most south western point of Europe is about 30 minutes drive away.
Faro airport is 80 kilometers away.

Activities
Near to Praia da Luz are numerous golf courses (golf shop in village hires all equipment). Horse riding nearby, jeep safaris, dolphin safaris are the best thing we have done. Many watersports, including sailing lessons, from Luz beach.
